Chairman Kim Gimuon Proposes Hansang Network as a Domestic SME Export Bridgehead
Keynote Speech at the Opening Ceremony of the 21st World Korean Business Convention
The Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business (Chairman Kim Ki-moon) announced that on the 11th (local time), at the opening ceremony of the 21st World Korean Business Convention held at the Anaheim Convention Center in California, USA, Chairman Kim Ki-moon delivered a keynote speech on the theme of "Global Hansang Network as a Bridgehead for Domestic SMEs' Exports."
First, Chairman Kim stated that South Korea, which was one of the poorest countries 60 years ago with a per capita income of $82, is now leading various industries such as smartphones, semiconductors, and shipbuilding, and that SMEs are producing products that sell well anywhere in the world and can conduct business with pride. He emphasized that the current crisis facing the Korean economy must be overcome through exports and overseas market expansion.

View original imageAdditionally, Chairman Kim proposed that the 7.5 million overseas Korean entrepreneurs utilize their global networks to become ambassadors for Korean products and sales representatives for South Korea, helping Korean SME products stand out in the global market.
Chairman Kim said that this 21st World Korean Business Convention, held overseas for the first time, is the largest-ever event with over 400 domestic SMEs, large corporations such as Samsung, and local governments jointly setting up export exhibition consultation booths. He added that the Hansang network could serve as a starting point for becoming a bridgehead for Korean SMEs' entry into overseas markets, similar to the Jewish or Chinese business networks.
