Yoon Byung-tae, former mayor of Naju City, Jeollanam-do, visited Sinchon Village in Nampyeong-eup to listen attentively to the residents' vivid on-site voices.
Naju City, Jeollanam-do, announced on the 12th that Mayor Yoon Byung-tae held the tenth village dialogue meeting at Sinchon Village in Nampyeong-eup on the 10th.
Since taking office, Mayor Yoon Byung-tae has been visiting village halls once a month to hear the residents' on-site voices. At the Sinchon Village Hall, he had an open and frank conversation with about 30 residents and collected their difficulties.

The dialogue session, which started at 6 p.m., was attended by about 30 residents, including Kim Young-wook, the village chief, Kim Jeong-sik, the head of the senior citizens' association, and Kim Ki-sook, the head of the women's association.
Village chief Kim Young-wook and other residents unanimously requested reinforcement of the retaining wall along Jeonggwangcheon Stream and installation of drainage under the culvert of Sinchoncheon Stream to prepare for flooding of the village's small streams caused by repeated heavy rains every year.
Chief Kim said, "Every year when heavy rain falls, Jeonggwangcheon and Sinchoncheon overflow, isolating the village and flooding the village roads and bridges, making it impossible for vehicles and even people to pass through. Since there are elderly residents who farm fields, it is urgent to reinforce flood prevention facilities."
The residents also applauded the increased operation of village buses following the reorganization of public transportation routes in the 8th local government administration, making it much more convenient to go to the town center than before.
Mayor Yoon said, "We will prioritize urgent measures such as reinforcing the retaining wall to solve the road flooding caused by heavy rains, which is the biggest problem in the village, and will prepare more fundamental countermeasures."
After the dialogue, Kim Jeong-sik, head of the senior citizens' association, presented Mayor Yoon with a scroll inscribed with the phrase ‘Yujija Sagyeongseong’ (有志者 事竟成).
Chairman Kim said, "It means that a person who has the will to achieve something will surely succeed," and added, "I hope that Mayor Yoon Byung-tae of the 8th local government administration and the public officials of Naju City will definitely create the Naju they aspire to."
Village chief Kim Young-wook, a native of Nodong-ri, Nampyeong-eup, commemorated Mayor Yoon’s visit to Nampyeong by playing "Spring in My Hometown" on the top flute, creating a warm atmosphere.
Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said, "I thank the village residents for their precious visit," and added, "We will do our best to ensure that the elderly can spend a comfortable old age by providing standing tables and chairs at the village senior centers and increasing support for main and side dish expenses according to the number of members."
