Jeju Coast Guard Conducts 'High-Speed Boat Maintenance and Repair Training'
Jeju Maritime Police Station (Chief So Byung-yong) conducted a ‘High-Speed Boat Maintenance and Repair Training’ on the 11th to strengthen on-site response capabilities.
According to Jeju Maritime Police on the 12th, this training was organized to enhance the self-management ability of high-speed boats, which respond on the front lines during crackdowns on illegal activities by Chinese and domestic fishing vessels and in the event of maritime accidents, as well as to develop equipment expertise.

High-speed boats are faster and easier to maneuver compared to patrol vessels, making them highly mobile during crackdowns on illegal fishing vessels. They can also easily access shallow waters where coastal rescue boats or patrol vessels have difficulty approaching during ship grounding accidents, playing a significant role in various on-site rescue operations. Therefore, equipment management skills are crucial, which led to the planning of this training.
Jeju Maritime Police conducts quarterly regular inspections to identify potential issues from the perspective of specialized companies in advance.
To improve equipment maintenance and management skills on a regular basis, a professional A/S team instructor from a specialized company for outboard motors of high-speed boats was invited to provide training for on-site managers. The training covered high-speed boat malfunction cases and countermeasures, equipment management methods, and consumable replacement techniques necessary in the field.
A Jeju Maritime Police official said, “This training provided a valuable opportunity to learn detailed boat management methods needed on-site,” and added, “We will do our best to prevent any gaps in the maintenance of high-speed boats through self-maintenance management via specialized company training, ensuring smooth management of high-speed boats that play an important role in maritime security such as illegal activities and maritime accidents, thereby protecting the lives and property of the public.”
