Last year's Genesis Award winner Kim Young-su expressed his determination to achieve a consecutive victory.
On the 11th, he attended the official press conference for the Korean Professional Golf Association (KPGA) Korean Tour Genesis Championship (total prize money of 1.5 billion won) held at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Songdo, Incheon, and smiled saying, "I feel good to come as the defending champion. Also, since this was the tournament where I got my first win, good memories come to mind." He added, "Ideally, I want to win the Genesis Championship again this year, but it doesn't seem to go as I wish. I will play calmly."

Kim Young-su won the Genesis Championship last year and received the award, taking home two cars. He laughed, "I drive one, and I gave the other as a gift to my parents." Kim Young-su will compete against caddie Kim Jae-min, who carried his bag last year. This year, Kim Jae-min qualified as a recommended player. Kim Young-su said, "Not only last year's win but also when I played on the European Tour, he helped me as a caddie," and added, "Genesis gave a great opportunity this time, and I hope Kim Jae-min learns as much as possible and enjoys playing." Kim Young-su's older brother will serve as his caddie in this tournament.
