Former Hamas Leader Urges Neighboring Countries Including Jordan to Join the Conflict
Khaled Meshaal, the former leader of Hamas, the Palestinian armed faction, urged Muslims to participate in protests supporting Palestinians this coming Friday and sent a message calling on neighboring countries to join the war.
On the 11th (local time), Meshaal stated in an audio message to major foreign media, "(Muslims) must take to the squares and streets of the Arab and Islamic world on Friday."
He also emphasized, "Tribes of Jordan, sons of Jordan, brothers and sisters, this is the moment of truth, and the border is close to you. You all know your responsibilities," stressing that the governments and peoples of Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt have a greater duty to support Palestine. Jordan and Lebanon are the countries with the largest populations of Palestinian refugees.
Meshaal added, "For all scholars who teach Islamic jihad and all those who teach and learn, now is the time to apply theory."
