Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju "Enjoy a Special Autumn" Festival Abundant
The season of romance and emotion, autumn. Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City welcomes citizens with various festivals and cultural arts events filled with taste, style, excitement, and resonance.
According to Gwangsan-gu on the 11th, first, the 1st ‘Gwangsan Music On (ON) Festival,’ a representative festival of ‘a vibrant city, sustainable Gwangsan,’ will be held for two days from the 21st to the 22nd at Hwangryong Chinsu Park.
With the slogan ‘Healing Hi, Feeling High!’ selected through a citizen contest, the festival will showcase nature, people, rest, and music together.
Performances full of emotion by top domestic singers and local musicians such as Imujin, Kim Gitae, Punch, Jeon Geonho, Kyungseo Yeji, Romantic Punch, and Ulala Session will be held, along with the 1st Gwangsan-gu Mayor’s Cup National Youth Dance Competition where youth from across the country will showcase their talent and skills through dance.
‘Music Picnic Zone,’ ‘Water Staring Zone,’ Cosmos Zone, and nightscapes will be created and operated to offer citizens a time for picnic and rest.
Especially on the first day, in connection with the ‘Gwangsan Music On Festival,’ the 32nd Gwangsan Residents’ Day commemorative ceremony and the 32nd Yong-A Park Yongcheol National Writing Contest will also be held to envision the future of sustainable city Gwangsan.
From the 13th to the 14th, the ‘Aurora Festival,’ which shares the diverse values of Gwangsan education with citizens and explores future directions, will meet with citizens.
‘Aurora’ means a local education governance festival unfolding along five (O) paths (Ro).
Starting with a pre-event on the 13th, for two days at Hanam Gyeongam Neighborhood Park, a library festival and commemorative ceremony, village education, future education, lifelong learning exhibitions and experience events, youth presentations, and a ‘Career Concert’ involving local universities will be held.
On the same day, at Gwangju Women’s University International Conference Room, a public forum on topics such as lifelong learning for the disabled and ecological transition education will be held.
On the morning of the 14th, the 8th Infant Forest Festival will be held at Wondangsan Park Infant Forest Experience Center, where the whole family can experience and relax in the urban forest.
Also, the KBS National Singing Contest Gwangsan-gu edition will be held on the 17th at the lawn square of Cheomdan Ssangam Park to commemorate the 32nd Gwangsan Residents’ Day. The preliminary round will be held on the 15th at Suwan Culture and Sports Center.
Village festivals planned and participated in directly by residents are also abundant.

On the 14th, the Cheomdan 1-dong village festival ‘A Wonderful Day in October’ (special stage at Cheomdan Ssangam Park) and the 13th Suwan Lake Park Concert (outdoor stage at Suwan Lake Park) will be held, and on the 26th, the 2023 True People Forest Usan-dong Village Festival (Surang Children’s Park) will take place.
