KOTRA to Expand Korea-Netherlands Semiconductor Cooperation
'Korea-US Semiconductor Industry Cooperation Seminar and Consultation Meeting' to be Held from the 11th
KOTRA announced on the 11th that it will hold the 'Korea-Netherlands Semiconductor Industry Cooperation Seminar and Consultation' online to strengthen cooperation between domestic semiconductor materials, parts, and equipment companies and Dutch semiconductor companies.
This project was held to enhance the global competitiveness and ecosystem of Korea's semiconductor industry by expanding cooperation with the Netherlands, which has a complete semiconductor industry value chain following the United States and Japan.

In particular, this seminar focused on systematically introducing the latest technology trends in semiconductor production processes between the two countries, moving beyond past exchanges across industries or cases centered on major companies. It was explained that the program reflects this focus due to the great interest in changes and developments in advanced packaging technology, a post-process, driven by the rapid growth of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) technology as well as artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors and the server market.
Specifically, in Part 1, Gyeonggi Province and North Brabant Province will present the status of semiconductor-specialized clusters in Korea and the Netherlands, where semiconductor and high-tech related companies are concentrated. In Part 2, Professor An Jin-ho of Hanyang Smart Semiconductor Research Institute will explain ▲the history of Korea's EUV technology development ▲the technological development cooperation relationships of semiconductor industry companies such as ASML ▲the current status of EUV industry research and development (R&D) ▲and cooperation activities between the Netherlands and Korea. Following this, ARCNL, an EUV-related specialized research institute jointly established by ASML and the Dutch government, will introduce the current status of metrology and inspection (MI) technology development. In Part 3, the Packaging Technology Support Center (CITC), initiated by semiconductor companies headquartered in the Netherlands such as NXP, Nexperia, and Ampleon, will introduce the development status of photonics packaging technology.
Semiconductors and semiconductor manufacturing equipment and parts are major trade items between Korea and the Netherlands. Korea's semiconductor industry exports to the Netherlands amounted to about 470 million USD last year, and this year, exports in the semiconductor manufacturing equipment sector have increased sharply by more than 30%.
Kim Hyun-chul, head of KOTRA's Europe Regional Headquarters, said, "Since our government announced the K-Semiconductor Strategy, many European semiconductor companies, including those in the Netherlands, have been strengthening their entry into Korea while also seeking to source Korean-made equipment and parts." He added, "KOTRA will actively consider not only export support in the semiconductor field but also R&D and employment support for nurturing domestic semiconductor industry professionals."
