On the 5th, the badminton national team triumphed in the quarterfinals held at Binjiang Gymnasium in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, winning in women's singles and doubles, men's doubles, and mixed doubles. In the quarterfinals that day, world No. 1 in women's singles An Se-young (Samsung Life Insurance) defeated world No. 16 Busanan Ongbamrungphan (Thailand) 2-0 (21-12, 21-13) to advance to the semifinals. In mixed doubles, Seo Seung-jae (Samsung Life Insurance) and Chae Yoo-jung (Incheon International Airport) secured a 2-0 (23-21, 21-10) victory over Taiwan's Yeh Hong-wei and Lee Chia-hsin.
In men's doubles, Choi Sol-gyu (Yonex) and Kim Won-ho (Samsung Life Insurance) defeated Hong Kong's Law Cheuk Him and Yeung Shing Choi 2-0 (21-8, 21-11). In women's doubles, Kim So-young (Incheon International Airport) and Gong Hee-yong (Jeonbuk Bank) overcame Hong Kong's Yung Nga Ting and Yung Pui Lam 2-1 (21-8, 16-21, 21-9).
