Gyeongnam Province Fully Discloses Radiation Safety Information on Website
Gyeongsangnam-do will disclose marine and seafood radiation inspection information daily on the provincial website and mobile app.
Gyeongnam Province announced on the 5th that it has established a dedicated web service platform for radiation safety information to alleviate residents' concerns amid the upcoming second discharge of radioactive contaminated water from the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant in Japan.
After a one-month pilot operation, the province officially began disseminating radiation inspection information on the same day.
According to the province, anyone can view on the provincial website and mobile app ▲radiation inspection results of seafood produced and distributed within the province ▲applications for resident participation in seafood radiation inspections ▲real-time status information on Fukushima contaminated water discharge.
After accessing the provincial website, selecting Gyeongnam Province Radiation Safety Information will redirect users to a page compiling related information.
Users can directly check real-time contaminated water discharge information provided by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as well as marine radiation analysis points and analysis results.
Additionally, the province is producing seafood safety promotional leaflets and posters displaying QR codes, which are being distributed to seafood markets, sashimi restaurants, and other seafood handling businesses.
Together with the Korea Foodservice Industry Association Gyeongnam Branch and city/county branches, the province is spreading Gyeongnam seafood radiation safety information from the website via KakaoTalk and SNS to promote seafood safety.
