Sejong City "Local Era Committee Launched... Expected to Be a Focal Point for Decentralized Balanced Development"
On the 5th, Sejong City announced that it held the '1st Sejong City Local Era Committee Appointment Ceremony' at the Sejong City Hall.
The Local Era Committee is a public-private cooperation organization launched to support decentralized balanced development policies and serve as a focal point connecting regional innovation actors, in accordance with the "Special Act on Local Autonomy Decentralization and Regional Balanced Development (Article 67)".
The 1st Local Era Committee consists of a total of 20 members, including ex officio members such as the City Planning and Coordination Office Chief, and field experts recommended by universities, research institutes, and innovation organizations. The term of these members lasts until October 2025.
On this day, following the appointment ceremony, the Local Era Committee held its first meeting to receive reports on ▲ Sejong City's Local Era Plan ▲ Chungcheong Region's Super Metropolitan Area Development Plan deliberation and resolution ▲ the 3rd Sejong City Balanced Development Basic Plan.
Additionally, the committee deliberated on Sejong City's Local Era Plan and the Chungcheong Region's Super Metropolitan Area Development Plan as agenda items.
Going forward, the Local Era Committee will deliberate on matters related to regional balanced development and local decentralization, including ▲ designation and modification of opportunity development zones ▲ application and nurturing plans for regional innovation convergence complexes ▲ regional development investment agreements ▲ regulatory free zone plans.

Mayor Choi Min-ho of Sejong City stated, “Sejong City will become a model for national regional balanced development and local decentralization from its position as the administrative capital,” and added, “We hope for the active support of the Local Era Committee in promoting various policies and projects to open the local era.”
