Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seongheon) will hold the '2023 Seodaemun Cultural Heritage Night Tour' event around Seodaemun Independence Park from the 14th to the 15th of this month. The event is themed 'Fireworks Lighting Up the Night' and consists of eight night programs including Night View (夜景), Night Road (夜路), Night Story (夜說), and Night Painting (夜畵).
'Night View (夜景) - One Star, One Cultural Heritage' is a nighttime opening program for cultural heritage sites and cultural facilities, featuring the Seodaemun Prison History Hall and the National Provisional Government Memorial Hall. Both facilities will extend their operating hours until 10 PM during the event period, and anyone can participate without prior registration.
'Night History (夜史) - Stories Contained in Seodaemun' is a nighttime guided tour with professional guides, operated in two courses: the 'Seodaemun Course' themed on independence and autonomy, and the 'Tongillo Course' focusing on Seodaemun's modern history. Those wishing to participate must make a reservation through the program's official website.
'Night Road (夜路) - Seodaemun Night Mission Tour' is an on- and offline linked program where participants freely explore the Independence Park area and solve given missions. On-site registration is available at Independence Park, and the first 200 participants who complete the missions each day will receive prizes.
'Night Story (夜說) - Seodaemun Moonlight Concert' will be held against the backdrop of the Independence Hall within Independence Park. Performances will be given by the percussion performance group 'Noldanggabseo', the traditional Korean music a cappella group 'Toris', the indie band 'Sina Sseuneun Alice', and fusion gugak teams 'Ye-gyeol Band' and 'Deuo'.
'Night Market (夜市) - Seodaemun Night Workshop' features 14 programs including making traditional hanji lanterns, cheongsachorong (traditional Korean lantern) making, and mini block Taegukgi (Korean flag) crafting. Anyone can participate for free through on-site registration. A photo booth at Dongnimmun and a flea market at Independence Park will also be operated.
'Night Painting (夜畵) - The Moment When Stars Shine' is a program exhibiting works by young artists themed on fireworks and independence on the outer wall of Seodaemun Prison History Hall. Photo zones for the Cultural Heritage Night Tour, such as the Moon Bench embracing Dongnimmun, the path following the stars, and the Cheongsachorong path, will also be set up. Additionally, the 'Night Food (夜食) - Seodaemun Restaurant' program linked with Yeongcheon Market gift certificates and the 'Night Stay (夜宿)' event offering hotel accommodation vouchers in the Seodaemun area will be held concurrently.
