Yeosu-si Announces Collection Contest for Acquiring Artworks to Establish Municipal Art Museum
Artworks with High Artistic and Aesthetic Value, October 4-18
Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced that it will begin accepting submissions for the collection of artworks in the second half of the year starting from the 4th to build the Yeosu Municipal Art Museum.
According to the city on the 4th, the Yeosu Municipal Art Museum is being constructed with the goal of opening in 2026, and the city has been collecting artworks since last year to establish the foundation of the museum's collection.
Through the open call, Yeosu plans to secure artworks including ▲major works for establishing the art history of the Yeosu region ▲works embodying the values of peace and human rights.
Eligibility for application includes anyone such as artists, private collectors, galleries, and corporations. The number of works that can be submitted is up to 2 pieces for sale, while there is no limit for donations.
Those wishing to sell or donate should submit their applications by registered mail to the Cultural Heritage Division of Yeosu City by the 18th. Applications postmarked by the deadline will be considered valid.

The city plans to announce the final selected works in November after review by the artwork collection review committee composed of related experts.
