Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station Conducts Joint Patrols Around Elementary Schools
The Gwangsan Police Station in Gwangju conducted patrols around elementary schools.
On the 27th, Gwangsan Police Station announced on the 4th that it conducted joint patrols with child safety guardians around Seonchang Elementary School and Jinman Elementary School.
Child safety guardians are a policy to create jobs by utilizing retired elderly professionals as auxiliary security personnel.
Earlier this year, 68 guardians were selected and deployed around 40 elementary schools starting from the new semester.
They perform the duty of protecting children from various crimes and safety accidents. Currently, they are working intensively from 2 p.m. to coincide with school dismissal times.
Kang Il-won, chief of Gwangsan Police Station, explained, "We conduct frequent joint patrols focusing on high-crime areas together with child safety guardians who work closest to children around elementary schools and playgrounds."
