Gwangju City Welcomes Over 1.39 Million Returning Visitors... No Major Incidents Reported
Transportation Personnel Expected to Increase by Approximately 140,000 for Lunar New Year
The Gwangju area was understood to have spent a peaceful holiday without major incidents or accidents during the six-day Chuseok holiday.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 3rd, as of 12 noon that day, about 1.39 million visitors traveled to Gwangju during the holiday period using Gwangju Songjeong Station, Gwangcheon Terminal, the airport, and private cars. In addition, about 1.14 million returnees were recorded to have left Gwangju.
During the extended Chuseok holiday period due to the designation of October 2 as a temporary holiday, about 2.54 million people traveled to and from Gwangju, an increase of about 140,000 compared to this year's Lunar New Year, creating a bustling holiday atmosphere.
During the holiday period, about 210,000 visitors paid respects at the municipal cemeteries (Mangwol Cemetery and Yeongnak Park). More than half, about 122,000 people, visited on Chuseok day, the 29th, and the following day, the 30th. However, three city bus routes?Support Line 15, Yongjeon Line 86, and 518?were adjusted and operated, and about 100 personnel including police officers, public officials, and model driver members were deployed on site to minimize inconvenience for the visitors.
Gwangju City designated and operated 21 emergency medical institutions and 4 emergency room operating institutions during the holiday period to provide emergency medical care. Additionally, 126 hospitals and clinics (average per day), 140 holiday duty pharmacies (average per day), and 5 public health centers (screening clinics) were operated to provide uninterrupted medical services to citizens.
Furthermore, situation rooms such as the Traffic Safety Situation Room, Water Supply Comprehensive Situation Room, Fuel Supply Situation Room, and Cleaning Mobile Response Team were operated during the holiday period to ensure no inconvenience to citizens' daily lives.
In addition, to ensure stable fuel supply, 243 gas stations and 52 LPG filling stations operated normally during the holiday period, and 39 LPG sales outlets also operated on designated days by region.
During this Chuseok holiday, ▲12 fires ▲54 traffic accidents ▲1,149 rescue and emergency cases (as of 12 noon on the 3rd) occurred, but most were minor accidents. Thanks to the prompt response of the 119 ambulance teams to various rescue and emergency calls, no major accidents were reported.

They promoted 45 tasks across 10 items in 3 areas and operated comprehensive situation rooms in 6 sectors (cemetery visits and medical care, traffic, environment and cleaning, citizen safety, fire services, and water supply) during the holiday period.
