A survey revealed that 80% recognize excessive obsession, such as checking a partner's phone or controlling their interpersonal relationships, as dating violence.
On the 30th, the marriage information company Duo released the results of a survey on 'Obsession in Lovers' conducted among unmarried men and women in their 20s and 30s.
The survey was conducted through the survey company Macromill Embrain from the 29th to the 31st of last month, targeting a total of 500 unmarried men and women aged 20 to 39. The confidence level was 95% with a standard error of ±4.38%p.
The survey results showed that 86.8% of female respondents and 75.2% of male respondents recognized 'excessive obsession as dating violence.'
Among all respondents, 4 out of 10 reported having experienced obsession in a romantic relationship. The most commonly experienced obsession was 'contact obsession,' cited by 55.8% of men and 54.4% of women. This was followed by 'control of interpersonal relationships' and 'interference in private life.'
Other experiences included checking phones, obsession with past events, monitoring social networks (SNS), and location tracking, in that order.
Among these, men experienced 'checking phones' more, while women experienced 'control of interpersonal relationships' more. 27.6% of men identified 'checking phones' as the worst form of obsession, while 26% of women answered 'control of interpersonal relationships.'
There was also an opinion that moderate obsession, not excessive, is necessary between lovers. 76% of unmarried men and women responded that 'moderate obsession is necessary between lovers.'
Responses that 'moderate obsession strengthens the relationship between lovers' were also high, with 27.6% of men and 33.2% of women agreeing. Following this, 32% of men and 22.4% of women responded that 'obsession is better than indifference.'
