Naktonggang Mulgeum and Maeri Points Bird Flu Warning 'Lifted'
The Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office announced that the algae warning issued at the Mulgeum and Maeri points of the Nakdong River was lifted as of 3 p.m. on the 27th.
The algae warning at the Mulgeum and Maeri points was issued at the "Attention" level on August 31.
Recent algae measurements were below the issuance criteria (1000 cells/㎖) for two consecutive times, leading to the lifting of the algae warning 27 days after the "Attention" level was issued.
With the lifting of the algae warning at the Mulgeum and Maeri points, all algae warning system points under the jurisdiction of the Nakdong River Office currently have no active algae warnings.
This lifting of the algae warning is analyzed to be due to intermittent rainfall and a drop in temperature, which reduced the number of harmful cyanobacteria.
So far this year, the number of days with algae warnings issued was 49 days at the Chilseo point and 69 days at the Mulgeum and Maeri points, showing a considerably better condition compared to previous years.

An official from the Nakdong River Office stated, “Although all algae warnings under our jurisdiction have been lifted, there is a possibility that algae levels may increase again depending on future weather conditions, so we will closely monitor the algae situation. We will continue efforts to reduce algae through cooperation with related agencies in managing pollution sources and water quantity.”
