Hampyeong-gun Launches Traffic Safety Campaign
On the 27th, Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced that it conducted a joint public-private-police "Thank You!" traffic safety campaign around Hampyeong Public Terminal and the 5-day Market area.
The campaign was attended by Lee Sang-ik, Mayor of Hampyeong-gun; Lee Gae-ho, Member of the National Assembly; Yoon Aeng-rang, Chairman of the Hampyeong County Council; county council members; Lee Jeong-hyun, Chief of Hampyeong Fire Station; Kim Young-joo, President of Hampyeong Livestock Cooperative; Hampyeong Police Station; Traffic Safety Guardians Association; Model Drivers Association; Veterans Police Association; Volunteer Fire Brigade; and representatives from seven organizations totaling over 80 participants.
The participants used banners stating "Creating a Safe Hampyeong Without Traffic Accidents" and traffic safety hand signs to promote ▲ temporary stops when making right turns at intersections with crosswalks ▲ eradication of the five major illegal parking and stopping violations, aiming to establish a culture of traffic safety.
They also distributed promotional materials to residents and especially urged the practice of traffic safety, such as safely crossing crosswalks and obeying traffic signals during the congested holiday periods.

Mayor Lee Sang-ik said, "Through today's campaign, I hope that drivers and pedestrians will comply with safety rules and that a proper traffic safety culture will be established," adding, "To create a safe Hampyeong for residents, the public, private sectors, and police will maintain an organic cooperative system and continue to collaborate."
