Busan Mayor Park Hyung-jun Personally Oversees Livelihood and Safety Sites for a Warm and Safe Chuseok!
Visit to Dalbit Children’s Hospital, Dongbu Police Station, and Dongguk CM at 10 AM on the 27th
Encouraging officials and overseeing response sites for citizen healthcare, safety, and local economic development
On the morning of the 27th, one day before the official start of the Chuseok holiday, Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, will visit ▲Ai Sarang Hospital (Dalbit Children's Hospital), ▲Dongbu Police Station, and ▲Dongkuk CM Busan Factory in sequence to thoroughly inspect the medical, safety, and industrial sites.
This field visit was arranged to encourage the personnel who are quietly dedicating themselves to the medical care, safety, and local economic development of Busan citizens despite the festive Chuseok atmosphere excited by the end of COVID-19 and the designation of temporary holidays resulting in a long six-day holiday. It is also intended as an opportunity for the city to directly oversee its response efforts.
This is the second public welfare event for Chuseok, following the visit on September 20 to three traditional markets?Jagalchi Fish Market stalls, Shindonga Seafood Wholesale Market, and Bupyeong Kkangtong Market?to promote seafood consumption and check price stabilization measures.
First, Mayor Park will visit Ai Sarang Hospital (located in Yeonsan-dong, Yeonje-gu), designated as a Dalbit Children's Hospital, to encourage the medical staff working to treat children during the Chuseok holiday and to once again review the pediatric medical system during the holiday period.
The city has established a tiered pediatric medical system for mild, moderate, and severe cases according to patient symptoms to ensure pediatric patients can receive treatment with peace of mind. It is strengthening the system through initiatives such as promoting the establishment of a municipal children's hospital, launching and operating the Busan-style pediatric medical public-private council, and signing memorandums of understanding with related organizations.
In the pediatric medical system, ▲mild cases are handled by Dalbit Children's Hospitals, ▲moderate cases by university hospitals, and ▲severe cases by the pediatric specialized emergency medical center (Yangsan Busan National University Hospital). The city provides various administrative and financial support to these institutions.
The 'Dalbit Children's Hospital' provides prompt outpatient medical services for mild pediatric patients during weekday night hours and on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. Currently, three such hospitals operate in the city. In October, one more hospital (in Yeongdo) will be designated, bringing the total to four.
The three existing 'Dalbit Children's Hospitals' are Jeonggwan Woori Children's Hospital (Gijang), Ai Sarang Hospital (Yeonje), and 99 Seoul Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic (Dongnae).
Next, Mayor Park will visit Dongbu Police Station to express gratitude to the police officers who are doing their best to maintain security during the Chuseok holiday and to urge them to pay special attention to maintaining security so that citizens can spend the holiday with peace of mind, as this is the first holiday since the end of COVID-19.
In particular, he will visit the Criminal Division to wish for the speedy recovery of three police officers from Dongbu Police Station’s Criminal Division who are currently hospitalized due to injuries sustained while performing official duties in the explosion accident at an old bathhouse on the 1st of this month.
This visit to Dongbu Police Station reflects the city’s determination to strengthen crime prevention zones and improve security infrastructure such as women’s safe return home paths to alleviate citizens’ anxiety caused by abnormal motive crimes.
As part of these field activities, on September 12, Mayor Park also conducted an unprecedented joint patrol in the Seomyeon area with the Busan Police Chief, the president of the Autonomous Crime Prevention Association, and other representatives from public and private security organizations.
Finally, Mayor Park will visit the Dongkuk CM Busan Factory.
Dongkuk CM is the world’s largest single-factory producer of color steel sheets and a leading company in the color steel sheet industry. It has been proactively responding in various fields such as the introduction of smart factories and the development of eco-friendly steel sheets, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the local economy.
Mayor Park will tour the production line to personally encourage the employees leading the local economy and will ask them to ensure sufficient safety management of the workplace, which operates even during the holiday period.
Afterwards, he will have lunch with Dongkuk CM employees in the company cafeteria and engage in candid communication.
After completing the field visits, Mayor Park will return to the city hall to meet with on-duty staff including public officials, public workers, and security guards who work closely together, to commend their hard work.
Mayor Park said, “I sincerely thank everyone who quietly and devotedly stays on site despite the excited atmosphere of the long Chuseok holiday.” He added, “As many people strive in their respective positions for the safety of citizens and the development of Busan, our city will always do its best to be a reliable partner for its citizens.”
