Jung-gu, Checking on Underprivileged Groups with Companies Ahead of Hangawi
As the Chuseok holiday approaches, a series of neighbor-helping and sharing events by companies are taking place throughout Jung-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Kim Gil-seong).
Hotel Shilla Shilla Duty Free collaborated with New Hwacheong Travel Agency, Eclacel, and Hanue Tteul to invite 120 elderly living alone to the Hanue Tteul restaurant on the 12th. Employees personally served galbitang (beef rib soup) and delivered Chuseok gift sets containing mixed grains and gomtang (beef bone soup). In addition to the meal service, Hotel Shilla separately provided Jeju seafood sets to 100 low-income households residing in Jangchung-dong and Dasan-dong.
On the 22nd, Paradise Group and Paradise Welfare Foundation hosted 100 elderly guests at the Yurak Comprehensive Social Welfare Center senior dining hall, serving holiday foods such as seolleongtang (ox bone soup), assorted jeon (Korean pancakes), and japchae (stir-fried glass noodles). One elderly guest who received the meal said, "This holiday, I was glad to enjoy festive food with neighbors and feel the spirit of Hangawi." Paradise also delivered gifts such as rice and traditional Korean sweets to 250 people. For elderly individuals who were unable to visit the dining hall due to mobility issues, employees visited their homes to deliver gifts and offer greetings.
Various sponsorship items from companies located in Jung-gu have also been arriving one after another. Myeongdong Saemaeul Geumgo generously donated 538 bags of newly harvested rice to help neighbors in need have a bountiful Chuseok. Vivian delivered 10 types of clothing, including underwear, to residents of jjokbang (small rooms) and homeless shelters. The International Lions Club District 354-A, Regions 2 and 10, provided 350 food gift sets; Korail Logistics delivered 250 packages containing shampoo, toothpaste, and other items; and the Korea Press Foundation donated 235 canola oil sets, all conveying warmth to marginalized groups during the holiday.
Jung-gu also supported low-income families by distributing Chuseok preparation funds (Onnuri gift certificates) worth 30,000 KRW per household to 500 households, prepared from Dream Heart donations, helping them through the holiday.
