Yeosu-si Launches Basic Plan for 'Development of Complex Marine Leisure Tourism City'

Establishing a Base City for Marine Leisure Tourism on the Southern Coast
Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced that on the 25th, it held a kickoff briefing session for the "2030 Basic Plan for the Creation of a Complex Marine Leisure Tourism City" project at the city hall situation room.
This project was initiated in response to the recent announcement by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries regarding the selection of sites for complex marine leisure tourism city development projects, considering regional conditions and hinterland demand. The aim is to establish practical directions and strategies based on Yeosu City's characteristics and infrastructure to timely respond to the public contest.
The city plans to develop a complex marine leisure tourism city that provides various convergent marine contents such as leisure, tourism, arts, and resorts in a one-stop manner, in line with the government's new growth strategy, to leap forward as a marine leisure tourism hub city on the southern coast.
The briefing session was attended by 14 people including Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong of Yeosu, heads of departments, city council members, and professors. The session proceeded with a presentation on the project implementation plan by the contractor, followed by a Q&A and collection of opinions.
The basic plan is expected to include analysis of marine leisure tourism conditions and infrastructure, analysis of domestic and international cases, establishment of basic concepts and execution plans, and strategies for responding to the public contest, all aimed at creating a complex marine leisure tourism city by 2030.

At the briefing, Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong of Yeosu said, “We will actively reflect the opinions of the committee members and establish a solid basic plan linked with the policy to create a southern coast marine leisure tourism belt, laying the foundation for Yeosu to leap forward as a central hub city for marine leisure tourism contributing to the government's regional balanced development.”
