Shinan-gun Awarded in Public Sector at the "Republic of Korea CEO Hall of Fame"
Selection of Awardees Among Outstanding Domestic Companies, Universities, and Public Corporations
The Only One Among Local Governments Nationwide... Shinan-gun's Name Shines Bright
Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Park Woo-ryang) was the only local government selected as the winner in the Public (Regional Brand) category at the ‘Korea CEO Hall of Fame’ awards ceremony held on the 26th at the EL Tower in Seoul.
According to the county, this event was organized to share the management philosophies, leadership, and strategies of outstanding business leaders and to spread innovative achievements. Awardees were selected from five major fields (Operation, Industry, Public, ESG, Technology) targeting excellent domestic companies, universities, and public corporations.
Shinan-gun was honored with the Public (Regional Brand) award in recognition of its outstanding achievements by leveraging the advantages of its islands and implementing policies that other local governments had not attempted.

Shinan-gun’s fully public bus system (2007) and youth fishing boat rental support project (2019) were the first policies implemented nationwide, leading to benchmarking by other local governments. The youth fishing boat rental support project’s effectiveness was proven to the extent that it was incorporated into national policy in 2021.
The ‘Renewable Energy Development Profit Sharing System’ is also a policy first introduced by Shinan-gun nationwide. It is evaluated as a creative and pioneering policy that distributes the profits from solar energy development by private power developers to residents in the form of ‘Sunlight Pension’ and ‘Sunlight Child Allowance.’
In addition, Shinan-gun is creating vibrant islands by promoting color marketing.
In particular, ‘Purple Island’ is a famous attraction proudly promoted by Shinan-gun. Despite having a population of about 100 residents, it attracted 380,000 visitors last year, firmly establishing the purple hue’s value as a regional brand.
