This event was held out of concern that North Korean defectors might feel a greater sense of alienation due to homesickness and loneliness during Chuseok, a traditional Korean holiday, aiming to comfort their hearts and support their stable settlement.
The Jindo Police fostered internal unity and harmony by sharing small acts of kindness with them, promoting coexistence.
A North Korean defector, Mr. Kim, said, “The Jindo Police Station and the Security Advisory Council show kindness and warm interest every holiday, which gives me great strength, and I am always grateful.”
Chief Park Mi-young of the police station said, “I hope this brings some comfort to the hearts of North Korean defectors during the Chuseok holiday,” and promised, “We will continue to do our best to support North Korean defectors together with the Security Advisory Council so that they do not feel alienated and can have a happy holiday.”
