HMM Launches Direct Flight Service Between Korea and Indonesia
Fastest Among Busan-Jakarta and Surabaya Routes
HMM announced on the 26th that it will launch a direct service connecting Jakarta and Surabaya starting from the 9th of next month. The newly revamped ICN (Intra-Asia Cross Network) service is the fastest route connecting Korea and Indonesia. It takes about 7 days from Busan to the respective cities.
Six 1700TEU-class container ships will be deployed on this route, which consists of a route connecting Indonesia and a route connecting Vietnam and Thailand. Operating in a pendulum form crossing these two routes, the ports of call for the Indonesia connection route are Incheon - Qingdao - Busan (North Port) - Jakarta - Surabaya - Busan (New Port) - Busan (North Port) - Shanghai - Ningbo in order. The other route follows Busan (North Port) - Shanghai - Ningbo - Ho Chi Minh - Laem Chabang - Incheon - Qingdao - Busan (North Port).
To strengthen its Philippine service, the company will also expand the ports of call for the TTP (Tianjin To Philippines) service starting from the 10th of next month. Four 4600TEU-class container ships will be deployed, with Dalian, Tianjin, and Ningbo added to the existing route.

An HMM official stated, “This restructuring is to strengthen the traditionally important Indonesian service in the Asian market,” adding, “We expect to provide customers with the most competitive and best service, and furthermore, to activate cargo volumes at Busan Port and Incheon Port even more.”
