Hanwha Construction Division Develops Korea's First Ceiling-Mounted Electric Vehicle Charging System with LGU+
Hanwha Corporation's Construction Division and LG Uplus announced on the 25th that they have developed the nation's first ceiling-type electric vehicle charging system, the 'Forena EV Air Station.'
The two companies signed an MMC development and business partnership agreement in December 2022 and, after about eight months of development, officially launched the 'Forena EV Air Station,' which combines a charging system with a shared charger.
The Forena EV Air Station is a next-generation electric vehicle charging system where the connector descends from the ceiling, allowing up to three vehicles to be charged simultaneously with one charger. It can be installed without reducing existing parking spaces, providing a solution to the parking space shortage problem, which has been pointed out as an issue with electric vehicle charging systems. It also offers scalability, allowing installation without location restrictions even in pre-constructed complexes.
Additionally, by using a motor to lower the cable and retract it after charging is complete, it solves the inconvenience of having to connect heavy cables that were previously placed on the ground to the vehicle. It is equipped with a function that automatically stops operation when a certain weight is detected during cable retraction, ensuring safety against accidents.
Utilizing LG Uplus's communication network, it provides stable system operation and an intuitive user environment, making it easy for anyone to use. Above all, by improving operational system efficiency, it is expected to receive great response from residents as it can offer lower electricity rates compared to existing supply prices.
The Forena EV Air Station has completed patent applications and certifications such as electromagnetic compatibility and is ready for commercialization. It is expected to be applied for the first time in Korea to Forena complexes supplied in the future.
In addition, they are proactively introducing features such as the 'Outdoor Unit Electric Louver' to prevent air conditioner outdoor unit fires, the pet playground 'Forena Pet Friends Park,' and pet-specialized design 'Pet Friends Interior,' reflecting diverse customer needs.
They are also continuously developing products such as 'Forena Cafe Breeze' for resident communication and relaxation, the creative play space 'Merry Kids Ground,' the fine dust reduction specialized system 'Forena Blue Air System,' and 'Forena Home IoT,' which links various smart functions with mobile applications.
