"Let's Collaborate on Supply Chain Security" Chairman Sohn Kyung-shik Urges Ho Chi Minh City Mayor
Son Kyung-sik, Chairman of the Korea Employers Federation, met with Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee of Vietnam, and local businesspeople at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul on the 25th to discuss economic cooperation measures between the two countries.
The event was held to welcome Chairman Mai, who also serves as the Mayor of Ho Chi Minh City, on his visit to Korea. On the Vietnamese side, 24 people including Nguyen Phu Trong, Ambassador of Vietnam to Korea, participated, while on the Korean side, a total of 26 people including Chairman Son, Choi Byung-oh, Chairman of Fashion Group Hyungji, Jung Sang-bin, Vice President of Hyundai Motor Company, Choi Won-hyuk, President of LX Pantos, Kang Guk-chang, Chairman of Incheon Employers Federation, and other key business leaders and chairpersons of employers' federations took part.

Chairman Son said, "Currently, over 8,800 Korean companies have entered Vietnam, evolving from traditional manufacturing industries to advanced technology sectors such as smartphones and electric vehicles, as well as service sectors including distribution, finance, and culture." He added, "The cooperation potential between Vietnam, which has a dynamic population structure and talented young workforce, and Korean companies possessing world-class advanced technology is limitless."
He also urged support for Korean companies operating locally. Chairman Son stated, "The two countries can jointly respond to pressing global issues such as supply chain stability, carbon neutrality, and digital transformation, and seek shared growth opportunities. We hope that challenges faced by Korean businesspeople in Ho Chi Minh City will be resolved and that active support policies such as tax reductions will be established to enable them to contribute to economic growth and talent development in both countries through active investment and business activities."
He further mentioned Korea's efforts in the private and government sectors to bid for the Busan World Expo, adding, "The support and interest from Ho Chi Minh City, a sister city of Busan, will be a great source of strength."
