"No Meal Gaps During Chuseok"... Yangcheon-gu Supports 'Hamkkehaeuri Dosirak'
From This Year, ‘Hamkkehaeuri’ Lunchbox Renovated: Serving Increased from 50 to 70 People, Unit Price Raised to 11,380 KRW
Dream Tree Card Deduction Removed to Ease Burden, Safety Text Sent to Guardians Before Lunchbox Delivery to Notify Arrival Time
Simple Meal Kits Including Beef Bulgogi, Whole Chicken, Barbecue, Juice, and Snacks Delivered for 3 Days on September 26-27
Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that it will minimize the gap in holiday meals by pre-delivering three days’ worth of ‘Hamkkehaeuri Lunchboxes,’ consisting of easy-to-cook meals, fruits, and snacks, to 70 children at risk of missing meals due to the absence of guardians during the Chuseok holiday from September 26 to 27.
Starting this year, the district revamped the holiday meal packages as ‘Hamkkehaeuri Lunchboxes’ by incorporating the district’s official friendly character, ‘Haeuri.’ The number of recipients has been expanded to 70, and the support cost per meal increased to 11,380 KRW, allowing for a more diverse menu. In particular, the lunchboxes are provided without deducting from the Dream Tree Card (meal card) balance, easing the financial burden.
The ‘Hamkkehaeuri Lunchboxes’ include 20 types of convenient foods such as ▲main dishes (royal bulgogi, army stew, barbecue, smoked whole chicken, galbitang, etc.) and ▲snacks (rice cakes, yakgwa, cereal, milk, juice, nuts). Food packages worth 68,280 KRW per child for three days (two meals per day) will be delivered from September 26 to 27 to the homes of 70 children at risk of missing meals, as recommended by local community centers. Additionally, a safety text message will be sent to guardians before delivery to inform them of the expected arrival time and to convey holiday greetings.
The Yangcheon Love Welfare Foundation (Chairman Kim Deok-young) also contributed warmth to the ‘Hamkkehaeuri Lunchboxes’ by sponsoring part of the support fund (1 million KRW).
Since 2015, the district has supported holiday lunchboxes for 840 children at risk of missing meals over 17 occasions. Furthermore, during last winter and summer vacations, meals were provided to over 2,000 children to support their healthy growth.
