Agreement to Arrest Lee Jae-myung Sparks Identification of Supporting Lawmakers
"Finally Found a Starting Point to Enter the Path of Normalization"
Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party, referred to the Democratic Party supporters who are targeting lawmakers who voted in favor of the arrest motion against Lee Jae-myung as "traitors to the party" and said, "No matter how much a handful of 'Gaeddal' supporters resist, it is just a tempest in a teacup."
On the morning of the 24th, Kim posted on his Facebook regarding the passage of the arrest motion against Lee, saying, "A small clue has been found that the abnormal state of the Republic of Korea, driven to the brink, can finally begin to normalize through the fierce power of public sentiment," and added, "Now that a momentum for normalizing the National Assembly has been difficultly created, it is time for both ruling and opposition parties to take a more responsible stance and work together for a full transition to a normal society where the rule of law and rational common sense prevail."

He continued, "Despite this spirit of the times, the remnants of the party, who ignore laws, principles, and the common sense of the people to protect party leadership and nomination rights without reflection or introspection, still persist with endless shielding and legislative rampage, turning the hall of public opinion into a tool for protecting a specific individual, which is regrettable," and claimed, "The resistance of these remnants against the unstoppable spirit of national normalization is nothing but a futile effort."
He said, "No matter how much a handful of dirt-like 'Gaeddal' (supporters of Lee) resist, it is just a tempest in a teacup," and added, "We at the People Power Party will continue to make vigorous efforts for a productive National Assembly and livelihood politics through sound dialogue, compromise, and coexistence, which the vast majority of rational citizens earnestly desire."
