Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, who visited China on the 23rd (local time), and stated, "China will continue to make efforts for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula."
President Xi held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Han at the State Guesthouse in Xihu, Hangzhou on the same day. The two held talks for 26 minutes from 4:26 PM to 5:52 PM.

View original imageRegarding the Korean Peninsula issue, Prime Minister Han requested, "We ask China to continue playing a constructive role," to which President Xi responded, "We consistently support reconciliation and cooperation between the two Koreas and both sides of the peninsula."
President Xi also mentioned the Korea-Japan-China trilateral summit being promoted by South Korea, saying, "We welcome holding it at an appropriate time." In response, Prime Minister Han said, "Starting with the high-level meeting to be held next week, followed by the foreign ministers' meeting, we will strive to hold the summit as soon as possible."
President Xi further evaluated, "South Korea's dispatch of a large delegation to the Hangzhou Asian Games shows the importance placed on the success of the event," and added, "As a sports powerhouse, I hope South Korea achieves good results in this competition as well."
This is the first time in 10 months that South Korea's highest-level official has met President Xi since the Korea-China summit between President Yoon Suk-yeol and President Xi in Bali, Indonesia, during the G20 summit in November last year. It is also the first official meeting between the highest-level officials of Korea and China in 16 days since the meeting between President Yoon and Li Qiang, China's second-ranking leader, in Jakarta, Indonesia (ASEAN Summit) on the 7th of this month.
