Five Family Members Found Dead at Three Locations... Suicide Note Cites 'Money Dispute'
On the 23rd, five members of a family were found dead in three locations, including Songpa-gu in Seoul and Gimpo in Gyeonggi Province.
According to the police, at around 7:29 a.m. that day, a report was received regarding a woman in her 40s, Ms. A, at an apartment in Jamsil-dong, Songpa-gu. Ms. A was found in a state of cardiac arrest and was taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead. It was investigated that Ms. A's parental home was located in the same apartment building where she was found.
Subsequently, during the process of confirming Ms. A's movements, the police found her husband, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law dead at their residence in Songpa-dong, Songpa-gu. Later, the couple’s teenage daughter was also found dead at a hotel in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province.
At the scene where Ms. A’s husband and two others were found dead, a will presumed to have been written by the husband and sister-in-law was discovered. The will reportedly mentioned family conflicts related to creditor-debtor issues.
The police suspect that four family members, excluding the daughter, took their own lives. They are investigating the cause and circumstances of death as well as any connections between the deaths.
The police confirmed that Ms. A had stayed at the Gimpo hotel with her daughter the previous day and left the hotel alone that morning. An autopsy is planned to determine the exact cause of the daughter’s death.
