Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 22nd that it has opened the 'Meteorite Crater Tourist Information Center' within Chogye Grand Park (1240 Dongbu-ro, Chogye-myeon).
Before the completion of the 'Meteorite Crater Hub Center' scheduled for 2024, the county established the Hapcheon Meteorite Crater Tourist Information Center to provide information about the 'Meteorite Crater' to residents and tourists and to actively promote the Hapcheon Meteorite Crater.
Inside the tourist information center, the walls display introductions to the solar system, traces and evidence of meteorite impacts, and geosite samples that strongly reveal geological features left by the meteorite impact.
Additionally, a 3D image of the Hapcheon Meteorite Crater is exhibited on the mid-level floor inside, along with samples of impact melt rock?rocks formed when molten rock, melted by the intense shock and heat of the meteorite impact, flew around and rapidly cooled and solidified?allowing visitors to acquire basic knowledge about the Hapcheon Meteorite Crater.
The tourist information center operates from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. During operating hours, a guide is present to provide explanations about the exhibits and the Hapcheon Meteorite Crater.

County Governor Kim Yoon-cheol stated, “Through the Meteorite Crater Tourist Information Center, we will provide accurate information to residents and tourists about the formation process and evidence of the Hapcheon Meteorite Crater, and we plan to systematically manage it in connection with nearby tourist sites such as the Hapcheon Museum in the eastern region and the Okcheon Burial Mounds, which have been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.”
