Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) and the Gwangjin-gu Mental Health Welfare Center will hold a “Mental Health Day Commemorative Lecture” on October 20 to raise awareness about the importance of mental health.
Every year, October 10 is designated as “Mental Health Day” to recognize the importance of mental health and to eliminate prejudice against mental illnesses.
The lecture will be held at Konkuk University Saecheonyeon Hall International Conference Room, divided into two parts with different themes.
In the first part, Choi Min-jun, director of the Son Research Institute, will give a lecture titled “Parenting Know-how That Moves Children.” He will share desirable parenting methods and communication techniques with children to help form healthy parent-child relationships.
In the second part, Professor Kim Kyung-il from the Department of Psychology at Ajou University will present “Tips for Those Who Struggle with Others’ Minds and Human Relationships,” teaching how to communicate without getting hurt by others. A book signing event will also be held, where attendees can receive Professor Kim Kyung-il’s book through a raffle.
The district will begin recruiting 220 participants per lecture on a first-come, first-served basis starting September 25. Anyone interested can participate by applying through the QR code on the promotional poster.
Additionally, from October 10 to 20, an online event to improve mental health awareness will be held. The first 150 people who correctly answer the mental health crossword puzzle will receive a gifticon. Details can be found from October 4 on the Gwangjin-gu Mental Health Welfare Center’s website, Instagram, and KakaoTalk channel.
Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “I hope many residents participate and have a beneficial time to become healthier,” and added, “We will promote various mental health projects so that residents can enjoy a happy and healthy life.”
