‘Eunpyeong Residents United Sports Festival’ Held
A Place of Communication, Harmony, and Festival to Run, Watch, and Enjoy Together After 4 Years on the 23rd
Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) will hold the ‘2023 Eunpyeong-gu Residents Unity Sports Festival’ at the Eunpyeong-gu Public Soccer Stadium on the 23rd.
The ‘2023 Eunpyeong-gu Residents Unity Sports Festival’ is an event held for the first time in four years since 2019. It is a festival of communication and harmony where about 2,000 residents from 16 neighborhoods of Eunpyeong-gu, including athletes and cheering squads, come together as one.
This year’s event will begin with a torch relay involving residents to prevent excessive competition and safety accidents, followed by five events in which residents from the 16 neighborhoods will participate: ▲Group Jump Rope ▲Centipede Relay ▲Wave Riding ▲Obstacle Relay ▲Vision Tower Building.
The games are designed to be easily accessible to people of all ages and will prioritize unity above all. Additionally, as the festival is meant to be enjoyed across generations, various side events such as ▲Face Painting, ▲Fan Calligraphy, ▲Wearing Nostalgic 70s-80s School Uniforms, and ▲Photo Zones have been prepared.
The celebratory performances will include a show by the Eunpyeong-gu Taekwondo Demonstration Team and performances by residents, including the grand prize winner of the 2023 Eunpyeong Singing Contest, adding excitement to the sports festival.
In particular, to practice ‘Zero Waste Eunpyeong,’ the event will minimize the use of disposable items typically generated at local festivals by providing lunch through a food truck for all athletes and cheering squads.
After the games, awards will be given based on the scores of each event, including first and second place prizes, as well as equal awards for each neighborhood’s participation and effort. The organizing committee has also prepared individual raffle boxes for each neighborhood to ensure fair distribution of prizes and luck.
