A former executive of the 5·18 Victims Association, a construction method organization, was caught by the police for illegally recording in the office.
According to the Gwangju Western Police Station on the 15th, A, a former executive of the 5·18 Democratization Movement Victims Association, was booked without detention on charges of recording without the consent of a third party (Violation of the Protection of Communications Secrets Act).
A is suspected of secretly leaving a recorder in the president's office within the Victims Association office the previous day and illegally recording conversations of third parties.
A member of the Victims Association discovered the recorder between chairs in the president's office and reported it to the police. It is reported that A confessed to the police, stating that the recorder was accidentally left behind.
A, who was recently suspended from his position in the Victims Association, is known to have been in conflict with Hwang Il-bong, the president of the 5·18 Victims Association.
On the same day, President Hwang held a press conference in the president's office to report allegations of embezzlement of donations by B, a former executive of the 5·18 organization.
