Changwon Special City, "Focusing on Public Stability and Domestic Demand Activation During Chuseok Holiday"
"Comprehensive Measures in 5 Areas for a 'Prosperous and Vibrant' Future
27 Measures Established, Focus on Minimizing Citizen Inconvenience
"
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced on the 15th that it will implement a “Comprehensive Chuseok Holiday Plan” focused on stabilizing people’s livelihoods and revitalizing domestic consumption for 16 days from the 18th to October 3rd in preparation for the upcoming Chuseok holiday.
Starting from September 28, the first day of the Chuseok holiday, the city will operate a “Comprehensive Chuseok Holiday Situation Room” for six days, including the temporary holiday and National Foundation Day, to respond to various emergencies such as citizen inconveniences and safety accidents that may occur during the holiday period based on the comprehensive plan.
The key measures include “27 detailed plans in 5 areas”: △ citizen safety measures △ improvement of resident convenience △ stabilization of prices for low-income households △ sharing with marginalized neighbors △ establishment of public service discipline. Since the holiday period is longer than usual, the city plans to minimize citizen inconvenience through thorough prior preparation.
As part of the citizen safety detailed measures, the operation of the COVID-19 situation room, screening clinics, and emergency medical measures are included first. With COVID-19 being reclassified as a level 4 infectious disease, public health center screening clinics will operate on a reduced schedule (Changwon, Masan, and Jinhae Public Health Centers from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.), and information on medical institutions prescribing oral COVID-19 treatments and pharmacies dispensing them can be found separately on the city’s website.
In addition, safety inspections will be conducted by the 22nd on 98 multi-use facilities such as large-scale stores, traditional markets, and transportation facilities within the city, where visitor numbers are expected to increase during the six-day holiday, to address potential hazards in advance.
The city will also make every effort to enhance resident convenience to avoid any disruption to daily life. Household waste will be collected normally on September 28 and October 2?3, and a household waste collection task force will operate to minimize collection gaps and maintain a clean environment.
To provide convenience for visitors to burial facilities during the holiday, the “Burial Facility Operation Plan” will extend operating hours for six days at the city-run columbariums (Sangbok Park 1 & 2 Columbariums, Masan Yeongsaengwon, Jinhae Cheonjawon) from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Temporary parking lots and shuttle buses (Changwon City Sangbok Park - Route 996, Changwon Park Cemetery - Routes 995, 995-1) will be operated to ensure smooth access for visitors.
Furthermore, as the government plans to supply 160,000 tons of 20 major essential items?the largest amount ever for Chuseok?to stabilize prices, the city has designated September 11 to 27 as a focused price stabilization management period and operates a comprehensive price countermeasure situation room to closely monitor major items expected to see price increases.
To promote seafood consumption, the city issues “Changwon-style seafood-only mobile gift certificates” with a 15% discount. Additionally, Changwon’s delivery app Nubigo is running a “Together Happy Event” throughout September, offering up to 20,000 KRW cashback in Nubijeon gift certificates to users who pay 20,000 KRW or more via the app.
Moreover, the city is striving to revitalize the local economy through support measures such as issuing 35 billion KRW worth of Changwon Love Gift Certificates (Nubijeon) and providing loan support for small and medium-sized enterprises.
In addition, to create a warm holiday atmosphere, the city will lead efforts to comfort and encourage neighbors in need during Chuseok. Gifts will be provided to a total of 1,223 social welfare facilities, and consolation payments will be given to 46,911 low-income marginalized individuals.
