Yongin City Increases Welfare Allowance for Spouses of War Veterans from 30,000 to 50,000 Won
Effective from January next year
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 15th that it will increase the welfare allowance for spouses of veterans from 30,000 KRW to 50,000 KRW per month starting next year.
This allowance increase follows the revision of the "Ordinance on the Treatment and Support for National Veterans," and will apply to about 700 of the approximately 1,200 welfare allowance recipients in the jurisdiction.
The city decided not to raise the allowance for the remaining 500 or so priority bereaved families of war-disabled veterans and recipients of military merit awards, considering that they receive an additional monthly veterans' honor allowance of 100,000 KRW.
Existing recipients of the welfare allowance for spouses of veterans will receive the increased allowance starting from January 25, when the January payment is made, without needing to go through a separate application process.
