Nongshim Purchases 325 Tons of Potatoes Grown by Returning Young Farmers... "2.5 Times More Than Last Year"
Largest Volume Since Launch of 'Cheongnyeon Sumi' Program
Nongshim announced on the 15th that it has successfully completed the 3rd term of the ‘Cheongnyeon Sumi’ program, which was started to support young farmers returning to farming, and purchased 325 tons of Sumi potatoes harvested by them. This is the largest volume since the launch of the Cheongnyeon Sumi program and is 2.5 times the 130 tons purchased last year.
Cheongnyeon Sumi is a program planned by Nongshim in 2021 as the first in the domestic food industry to support young farmers returning to farming throughout all processes from farming to sales. Nongshim selects 10 young farmers each year based on recommendations from the Return-to-Farming and Rural Settlement Comprehensive Center, providing financial support as well as assistance in all farming processes including harvest management, securing sales channels, education, and visits to the Sumi chip production site (Nongshim Asan Factory).
This year as well, Nongshim signed advance contracts and paid advance payments before sowing to enable young farmers to carry out farming activities stably. They also conducted comprehensive farming management education such as seed potato storage and management methods and on-site inspections during sowing. Additionally, experts and mentors were paired with each farm to maintain constant contact and resolve any questions.
