SKB Supplies Network-Isolated Cloud PC 'CloudX' to Seoul National University Hospital
SK Broadband announced on the 14th that it has supplied the cloud PC ‘Cloud X’ to Seoul National University Hospital.
Recently, incidents of hacking, ransomware, and other security breaches targeting hospitals have been on the rise. To strengthen security, public hospitals must separate internal work networks from external internet networks in accordance with Article 40 of the National Information Security Basic Guidelines.

SK Broadband provided Seoul National University Hospital with the cloud PC solution ‘Cloud X,’ which offers two separate environments on a single PC. They implemented a logically separated network environment allowing separate use of work and internet networks and began a pilot service.
In particular, in line with the trend of promoting cloud transition in public institutions, the cloud PC was built in the form of ‘Desktop as a Service (DaaS).’ Unlike the method where customers build and manage cloud PC systems within their own data centers, ‘DaaS’ is a service model that provides systems built in cloud data centers on a monthly subscription basis.
In this project, SK Broadband enhanced security by configuring a dedicated zone for Seoul National University Hospital within a public institution cloud environment certified with Cloud Security Assurance Program (CSAP). They further strengthened security through hospital internet service provider redundancy, encrypted Virtual Private Network (VPN) communication between the hospital and the cloud center, and file import/export control via a network linkage system between hospital work PCs and cloud PCs.
Given the handling of a large amount of sensitive personal information, the stability of cloud PC usage is also guaranteed. ‘Cloud X’ is a product that has obtained the National Intelligence Service’s security function verification certificate, fully complying with national security requirements and providing various security features such as authentication, authorization management, access control, encryption, and screen capture prevention.
Additionally, ‘Cloud X’ is automatically deployed to employees who connect to the PC for rapid provision, and when usage ends, it is automatically reclaimed through autoscaling. This applies the latest cloud technologies verified by numerous public institutions. Service availability is also ensured through triple redundancy of management servers to prevent service failures and triple data storage to prevent information loss. An integrated management portal assists operators with easy management, and a dedicated help desk is also operated.
