Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will provide free influenza (flu) vaccinations to all 920,000 citizens from the 20th of this month until April 30th of next year. Offering free flu vaccines to all citizens is a pledge project by Mayor Shin Sang-jin of Seongnam, making Seongnam the first among the 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province to do so.
To this end, Seongnam City has secured a project budget of 17.6 billion KRW, including 3.8 billion KRW from national and provincial funds, and designated 498 local clinics and hospitals as entrusted medical institutions. Seongnam City will implement vaccinations sequentially by age group to ensure smooth administration.
First, children aged 6 months to 8 years who are receiving the flu vaccine for the first time and require two doses can start vaccination from September 20th.
Next, free flu vaccinations will be available from October 5th for those aged 6 months to 13 years who require only one dose and for pregnant women; from October 11th for those aged 75 and older; from October 16th for those aged 70 to 74; and from October 19th for those aged 65 to 69.
For those aged 14 to 64, free flu vaccinations will be provided from October 20th until the end of the project.
During each period, citizens can visit the nearest designated clinic or hospital with an ID that verifies their address. The list of designated clinics and hospitals can be found on the Seongnam City Public Health Center website.
