Gokseong-gun Wins 'Excellent Idea Award' at Health Promotion Contest

Hanuri Yeonhui Arts Troupe Promotes Physical Activity Through Health-Enhancing Dance

Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced that it won the Excellent Idea Award by participating in the 2023 Jeollanam-do Health Promotion Physical Activity Contest held at the Jangheung Integrated Medicine Expo on the 12th.

The Jeollanam-do Health Promotion Physical Activity Contest was held to discover and widely promote excellent physical activity programs in community-integrated health promotion projects tailored to regional characteristics.

At the contest, participants from 22 cities and counties in Jeollanam-do demonstrated various health promotion physical activities such as daily calisthenics, line dance, and sports dance. An awards ceremony for outstanding programs was also held.

Judges, composed of external experts including university professors, evaluated the participating teams based on program creativity, contribution to health, performance proficiency, audience response, and the participation rate of seniors aged 65 and older.

Gokseong-gun was awarded the Excellent Idea Award by the dance team called 'Hanuri Yeonhui Arts Troupe' from Okgwa-myeon. The participants performed a health-promoting dance that anyone, regardless of age or gender, could easily follow to the tune of 'Gokseong Bus Bbangbbang,' a promotional song for Gokseong.

A Gokseong-gun official said, "We expect that this contest and the active physical activities through resident-led participation programs will greatly help improve health indicators. We will strive to expand physical activity activation programs that reflect residents' health promotion needs tailored to regional characteristics."

'Hanuri Yeonhui Arts Troupe' is a resident-centered dance and Nanta club in Okgwa-myeon that started in 2011 as a talent donation by the Gokseong-gun Life Improvement Association. The troupe members consist of local residents, village chiefs, and other community representatives.

The members contribute to activating residents' physical activities through their artistic activities. They also engage in various cultural activities by participating in local festival events such as the Gokseong World Rose Festival and the Simcheong Children's Grand Festival, along with volunteer performances at senior welfare facilities.
