Prime Minister Han Duck-soo met with Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala on the 12th (local time) and promised to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in energy sectors such as nuclear power and hydrogen, as well as defense industries.
Prime Minister Han officially visited the Czech Republic from the 11th to the 13th at the invitation of Prime Minister Petr Fiala. This marks the first visit by a South Korean prime minister to the Czech Republic in 14 years. Since the two countries elevated their relationship to a strategic partnership in 2015, they have been expanding exchanges and cooperation.

View original imageAt the meeting held on the 12th, Prime Minister Han highly praised the fact that bilateral trade reached approximately 4.2 billion USD last year, setting a record high for three consecutive years. He requested active support for South Korean companies operating in the Czech Republic. Prime Minister Fiala responded by expressing high appreciation for the contributions of Korean companies to the development of bilateral relations. Prime Minister Han especially emphasized strengthening cooperation in various fields such as nuclear power, hydrogen energy, infrastructure including high-speed rail, and defense industries.
On the same day in the afternoon, Prime Minister Han held a meeting with Milo? Vystr?il, the President of the Senate. He requested support to expand the strategic partnership between the two countries into areas such as nuclear power, high-speed rail, and hydrogen. President Vystr?il stated that the potential for cooperation between Korea and the Czech Republic is very high in fields such as energy and electric vehicles. An official from the Prime Minister’s Office said, “The Czech Republic, as a key ally in Central Europe, is evaluated to have expanded the scope of cooperation to future industries through this prime ministerial meeting.”

View original imageMeanwhile, upon arriving in Prague, Czech Republic, on the evening of the 11th, Prime Minister Han’s first schedule was to encourage Korean businesspeople contributing to the development of exchanges and cooperation between the two countries and to listen to their local difficulties. Attendees included representatives from Kia Motors, Nexen Tire, Korean Air, Doosan Bobcat, Doosan ?koda Power, Osstem Implant, LG Electronics, Hyundai Glovis, Hyundai Motor Company, and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power.
