LG Uplus Blocks 2.32 Million Spam Messages Using Server Tracking Technology
Introduction of 'Redirected URL Trace' Technology
2.32 Million Spam Messages Blocked in 5 Months
LG Uplus announced on the 12th that it has blocked a total of 2.32 million spam messages over five months using the ‘Redirected URL Trace’ technology, which tracks and blocks spam message sending servers at the source.
Introduced by LG Uplus in April, the Redirected URL Trace technology tracks and blocks the server IPs that are the source of URLs based on the smishing URL list provided by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA). Even if the access address changes, it can detect and block all messages sent from the same IP spam server.
Since adopting this technology, LG Uplus has blocked an average of 460,000 messages per month and a total of 2.32 million messages containing illegal smishing URLs over five months. Previously, spam messages were filtered based on specific words included in the text message or the sender’s number, making it difficult to block messages if the content or sender number changed. Now, messages sent from servers classified as ‘spam IPs’ can be blocked at the source.
