Slight Increase Expected in NAND Prices in Q4
TrendForce "Visible Effects of Semiconductor Production Cuts"
There is a view that the price of memory semiconductor NAND flash (hereinafter NAND), which had been declining for some time, may rise slightly in the fourth quarter of this year.
According to global market research firm TrendForce on the 11th, NAND prices are expected to remain at similar levels to the previous quarter or increase by 0-5% in the fourth quarter.
According to TrendForce's data, NAND prices fell by 10-15% quarter-on-quarter in the first and second quarters, and are expected to decline by 5-10% in the third quarter as well. This is due to the contraction of IT demand caused by the global economic recession and oversupply.
However, as the effect of semiconductor production cuts by suppliers such as Samsung Electronics appears, the possibility of a slight increase in NAND prices is growing.

TrendForce stated, "To respond to the continued demand slowdown, Samsung Electronics began cutting NAND production by 50% from September," and "According to the survey, other suppliers are also expected to increase the scale of production cuts and accelerate inventory reduction in the fourth quarter."
