After claiming her first victory at the DIO Implant LA Open in April, she won the major KPMG Women's PGA Championship in June. This season, she has been impressive with two wins and seven top-10 finishes.

In Ruoning's world ranking has also risen sharply. She was ranked 146th after the Drive On Championship in March, but after winning the LA Open, she climbed to 32nd, and in less than six months, she surged to No. 1. She is the second Chinese player to reach No. 1 in the women's golf world rankings, following Feng Shanshan, who retired last year after winning a total of 10 tournaments. In a local interview, In Ruoning said, "Becoming world No. 1 means a lot. It feels like a dream come true for me," adding, "It is a big step following Feng Shanshan. It gives me goosebumps," expressing her joy.
