Ulsan Office of Education Supports Growth of Disabled Students as Professional Cultural and Artistic Workers
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education supports tailored education, performances, and exhibitions to nurture talented students with disabilities into professional cultural and artistic workers.
From the 11th to the 15th, about 93 hand-painted ceramic works by trainees will be exhibited in the lobby on the first floor of the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education, hosted by Dadareum Art & Design. Five students participated in this program, and all participating students completed professional certification.
In addition to the exhibition, the Ulsan Office of Education also supports celebratory performances in the local community and pre-event performances at various events.
Students participating in the International Disabled Cultural Exchange Ulsan Association’s specialized program will hold a busking performance with seniors on the 19th at the National Assembly Library in Seoul. On October 3rd, they will perform at the Ulsan Culture and Arts Center during the Sarang Arts Festival.
Students participating in the Ulsan Dance Forum specialized program plan to collaborate in the regular performance of the intellectual disability ‘Yeon’ dance troupe held on November 8th at the Ulju Culture and Arts Center.
Performances are also scheduled at local apartment associations, senior welfare centers, comprehensive welfare centers for the disabled, and the Jangsaengpo Whale Museum.
Three students who participated in the International Disabled Cultural Exchange Ulsan Association’s specialized program were employed as official members of the Donggang Hospital Ripple Ensemble in August.
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education also plans to support on-the-job training, vocational training courses necessary for obtaining qualifications and certificates, and other related programs.
This year, through a public contest, the Office of Education selected four institutions to operate specialized programs for nurturing professional cultural and artistic workers among students with disabilities. The selected institutions are Dadareum Art & Design, International Disabled Cultural Exchange Ulsan Association, Music Palette, and Ulsan Dance Forum.
These institutions operate vocational education in the cultural and artistic fields, one-on-one cultural and artistic education, individualized customized job linkage support, and professional worker training and practical training.
