Fire Safety 'Big Data and Innovative Ideas' Competition Held
The National Fire Agency announced on the 11th that it will hold the "2023 3rd Fire Safety Big Data Utilization and Idea Competition" to create social value through the activation of the 'Fire Safety Big Data Platform.'
The 'Fire Safety Big Data Platform' is a public service platform centered on the National Fire Agency, involving provincial fire headquarters, the Korea Fire Safety Institute, and private companies. It consists of nine centers by sector and processes and integrates 648 types and 2,174 cases of data according to user demands to provide services to the public.
This competition, which started in 2021 and is now in its third year, aims to create social value by discovering creative ideas and business models related to fire safety big data. Anyone in the public can participate, and applications can be submitted via email until the 16th of next month.
Starting from this competition, in addition to the existing common themes of ▲ Fire Safety Big Data Platform and Data Utilization Cases ▲ Fire Safety Idea Proposal fields, two new categories have been added: ▲ Underground Pipeline Safety Management Big Data Center ▲ Data Application Services based on the Fire ICT Engineering Center, making a total of four themes.
The total prize money is approximately 20 million KRW, with one grand prize winner (National Fire Agency Commissioner Award) per category, two excellence awards, and about ten merit awards to be selected. The grand prize receives 1 million KRW, excellence awards receive 500,000 KRW, and merit awards receive 300,000 KRW.

Choi Jae-min, head of the Fire Analysis System Division at the National Fire Agency, stated, "Through this competition, we hope to raise social interest in fire safety and big data utilization, and furthermore, to create an opportunity to establish a national safety and fire industry ecosystem through the activation of the fire safety data economy."
