Yangcheon-gu Hosts 'Toy Donation Sharing DAY'
Donation Event for Used Toys and Food Utensils at Haenuri Town on the 22nd, Pre-Registering 80 Households... Promoting Environmental Protection and Social Contribution through Used Toy Recycling, Donated Items Delivered to Vulnerable Groups
Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that on the 22nd, it will operate the ‘Toy Donation Sharing DAY’ at Haenuri Town to support healthy play growth for children in vulnerable groups along with environmental protection through the virtuous cycle of resources by donating toys.
This event, conducted in cooperation with the Yangcheon-gu Childcare Comprehensive Support Center and the nonprofit organization ‘Green Move Workshop,’ which recycles and repairs toys for donation, simultaneously promotes two public interest projects: environmental protection and child welfare. It aims to reduce the economic burden of purchasing toys for low-income families and provide families participating in donations with opportunities for social contribution through sharing.
The donation sharing event will be held on September 22nd at the Haenuri Town Eoullim Room from 1 PM to 5 PM, operating in a total of four sessions with 20 families per session, targeting a total of 80 families. Families who donate unused toys and food-related items such as canned goods and detergents will receive circulated toys supported by Green Move Workshop.
Broken toys can also be donated, and the main donation items include plastic toys, sound books, dolls, and fairy tale books. However, wooden toys, large-sized toys, and other infant products are excluded from the donation items.
Any family raising infants and toddlers interested in resource circulation and helping neighbors can participate, and currently, 80 families willing to participate in the donation are being pre-recruited on the Yangcheon-gu Childcare Comprehensive Support Center website.
Donated toys will go through repair and disinfection processes by Green Move Workshop and then be delivered to child welfare centers and orphanages. Food-related items will be distributed to vulnerable families in the region through the Yangcheon Food Bank Market Center.
