Smilegate 'Stove Indie' to Operate G-Star Indie Showcase
Smilegate Stove's indie game platform, 'Stove Indie,' announced on the 8th that it will participate as the title sponsor of the international game exhibition G-STAR. Smilegate will jointly operate the 'G-STAR 2023 Indie Showcase Powered by Stove Indie' together with the G-STAR organizing committee.
Korea's largest game show, 'G-STAR 2023,' will be held from November 16 to 19 at BEXCO in Busan. Participating in G-STAR for the first time, Stove Indie is leading efforts to support indie games. During the G-STAR event, Stove Indie will operate a special indie game exhibition hall, the 'G-STAR Indie Showcase Powered by Stove Indie' (hereinafter referred to as G-STAR Indie Showcase), in collaboration with the organizing committee and One Store, an app market that services mobile content, covering both PC and mobile games. Additionally, they plan to actively cooperate in strengthening support for the indie game industry by hosting the 'G-STAR Indie Awards.'
As the title sponsor, Stove Indie will oversee the online preliminary selection, including judging submissions in the PC category, and select about 40 titles to be showcased at the 'G-STAR Indie Showcase.' Participation in the online preliminary selection, which offers the opportunity to exhibit at the offline booth of the 'G-STAR Indie Showcase,' is open to indie game developers aged 14 and older, and applications can be submitted through the official G-STAR website until the 20th.
The 'G-STAR Indie Showcase' online preliminary selection, starting from the 10th of next month, will be held on the Stove Indie website. The selection of titles to be exhibited at G-STAR will be based on a combined score of user votes and judges' evaluations. Stove Indie plans to encourage user voting and increase its weight in the scoring to create an event where indie game users are the main protagonists. Selected participants of the 'G-STAR Indie Showcase' will also receive various benefits, including business consultation opportunities provided by Smilegate.
