Boseong Industry Introduces 'Solarcido Data Center Park' at Renewable Energy Forum
Boseong Industry announced on the 8th that it will participate in the '2023 Korea Renewable Energy Matching Forum' held in Jeju for three days starting from the 11th, introducing the 'Solar City RE100 Data Center Park.'
The forum is expected to be attended by over 300 companies from government agencies and local governments such as the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Gyeonggi Province, Jeollanam-do, and Jeju Island, as well as domestic and international corporations. Government agencies and local governments will introduce government support policies related to RE100 and regional corporate attraction strategies, while companies will present renewable energy projects they are currently pursuing.
Boseong Industry will focus on introducing the Solar City RE100 Data Center Park at this forum. Boseong Group, which includes affiliates such as Boseong Industry and Hanyang, is developing Solar City, a new eco-friendly future city, on approximately 20.9 million square meters (6.32 million pyeong) of land in Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do.
Solar City will establish a renewable energy power generation complex and a renewable energy-based eco-friendly industrial belt, within which the largest data center park in Korea (1GW) will be built.
The Solar City Data Center Park is differentiated from data centers in other regions by its ability to contribute to companies' achievement of RE100 and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management through renewable energy power supply.
With the introduction of a regional differentiated tariff system under the recently passed Distributed Energy Special Act by the National Assembly, the burden of electricity costs, which constitute a large portion of operating expenses, can be reduced. Additionally, the wide pre-developed land can be utilized immediately, making it advantageous in terms of development costs. Furthermore, by consuming the power generated in Jeollanam-do within the region, the burden on the power grid can be minimized.
