Yongsan-gu, Improvement of Signboards Around Yongmun Market
Replacing with Energy-Saving LED Signs... Aiming to Revitalize Commercial Areas... 80 Locations with One Sign per Business... Up to 2.5 Million KRW Support per Business
Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Park Hee-young) will replace 80 old signs around Yongsan Yongmun Market (98 Hyochangwon-ro to 64 Wonhyo-ro 41-gil) with energy-saving light-emitting diode (LED) signs by the end of this month.
The aim is to improve the urban landscape by creating a pleasant street environment and revitalize the commercial district to breathe new life into the local economy.
The district will invest 200 million KRW from the Outdoor Advertising Development Fund to replace one sign per business. Support of up to 2.5 million KRW will be provided, and any costs exceeding this amount must be borne by the business. However, businesses that opened after August 30 (the date of designation as a maintenance pilot zone and announcement of display methods), buildings planned for new construction or remodeling, and unauthorized buildings are excluded from support.
The project funds will be paid to the Sign Improvement Residents’ Committee, composed of store owners, experts, public officials, and district council members, after installation is completed. The committee will autonomously decide on the selection method of the implementing company and the design for each store. The district will review the completion report from the committee to determine whether the project was appropriately carried out.
Among the 80 signs scheduled for replacement this year, 43 are included in the arcade installation section of the Yongmun Market facility modernization project.
In addition to sign improvement, efforts are underway to modernize Yongmun Market’s facilities and management, including ▲ arcade installation ▲ sales stand improvement ▲ road paving ▲ market entrance sign improvement ▲ manpower support ▲ and the Yongmun Market Golden Beer (Yonggeummak) Festival.
Yongmun Market held a traditional beam-raising ceremony for the arcade construction on the 5th and continues the construction. A total of 73 sales stands will be newly renovated by the end of the year. The Yongmun Market Beer Festival will be held every Friday and Saturday from the first to the third week of October.
