'Sports Center Brutal Murder'... Court Orders 800 Million Won Compensation to Bereaved Family
A court ruling ordered the payment of approximately 800 million won in compensation to the bereaved family of the victim in the 'Sports Center Brutal Murder Case' that occurred in 2021.
The Civil Agreement Division 14 of the Seoul Western District Court (Chief Judge Lee Jin-ung) on the 7th partially ruled in favor of the plaintiff, the family of Mr. A, in a lawsuit filed against the perpetrator Han Mo (42), ordering Han to pay over 800 million won to Mr. A's father and mother. The compensation amounts are approximately 390 million won each to the father and mother, and 20 million won to the sister.

The bereaved family filed a lawsuit against Han in March, demanding compensation of over 900 million won, including Mr. A's expected income and consolation money.
Han was arrested and indicted on charges of murder for repeatedly beating employee Mr. A's head and body dozens of times and stabbing a plastic rod into his body at the sports center he operated in December 2021, causing organ rupture and death.

Han was sentenced to 25 years in prison in the first trial, and the sentence was confirmed by the Supreme Court in April.
